Meet the Creators

   Author: Jaye Beeler

Accomplished journalist Jaye Beeler aims to eat locally for that sense of freshness that can’t be mass-produced. For years, Jaye has shared the sumptuous stories of the men and women who cultivate Michigan’s amazing peninsulas. She loves introducing the tastemakers of Michigan – farmers, herds people, cheese-makers, small-batch producers, bakers and culinary experts – who are hand-crafting quality with brilliance and perfection.

With a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Jaye has worked in newsrooms from Arizona, Kentucky, and Ohio to Michigan, where she was food editor and restaurant reviewer at The Grand Rapids Press for 10 years. Her devotion to food and farming can be found in magazine, television and radio features and at cooking classes.

Jaye lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan in an 1880 Eastlake Victorian home with her husband and three young children.
